Children's Ministry

  • Children's Sunday school will continue to be offered this summer. Current 2-4 year olds will have Sunday school in the nursery, while current K-5th grade students will be in our current Sunday school room. Sunday school is offered every Sunday from 9-9:45 (ish) a.m.
  • M&M Kids Summer II sessionwill be July 12-August 2. Kiddos entering Kindergarten-6th grade are welcome to join us on Wednesday nights from 6-7 p.m. in room 117. M&M Kids this summer will have videos, comics, games, Bible lessons and fun snacks!
  • We are taking kids to summer camp! Incoming 3-6th graders are welcome to join other United Methodist children from around Central Texas at Glen Lake summer camp. We've got kiddos and at least one adult from our church going the week of July 16-21. The cost is $475 per child, and scholarships are available. Glen Lake summer camp is an awesome experience for children, and we hope you will consider having your child join us.

  • And finally, we are opening up a prayer ground during both worship services starting this June! This will be a space open to children ages 2-10 and their families to use. It will be equipped with child sized chairs, tables, a rug, and quiet children's toys and activities. It will be a quiet, but not silent place for children and their families to gather for worship to they may all worship together. Parents will sit near the prayer ground to monitor their children and pick up and put away toys and supplies used during the service.

Childcare is also available for children 4 and younger Sunday mornings.

Ministry Safe

SUMC adopted a Safe Sanctuaries Policy in 2011, and transitioned to a Ministry Safe policy in 2015. The purpose of this policy is to make our church a safe place for children to be, and for members and visitors to feel that children are safe when they are left in their Sunday School classes, nurseries, or at other events.

This policy serves to protect and inform volunteers who work with Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults.

This policy serves as a minimum standard to be upheld by staff and volunteers for all ministries and activities at SUMC. The Central Texas Conference requires that we provide adequate adult supervision at District and Conference Events and Ministries attended by Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults.
