Children's Ministry

SUMC is committed to providing a safe place where kids of all ages can learn about God in an exciting and active environment.

Children's Lego Summer Sunday School

Sundays, 10 - 11 am

Completed Grades PK - 2: Room 124

Completed Grades 3 - 5: Room 122 (Art Room)

If your child has Legos of their own, we encourage them to bring them in a sealed container each week!

We also have a Nursery in Room 125 available from 8:30 am - 12:15 pm for children age 0 - 4.

Children's Church

Children (K - Grade 2) are invited to attend the first part of the Sunday morning worship services, and are then dismissed before the sermon to go to Children's Church where we study the Bible, play games, make crafts, and do activities to help reinforce our lessons.

M&M Kids & M&M Minis

Wednesdays during the School Year, 6 - 7 pm

Ages 2 - 5: Nursery

Grades K - 1: Art Room

Grades 2 - 4: Room 119

Grades 5 - 6: Room 113

M&M Kids (or Music & Missions) is open to children Grades K - 6 and meets every Wednesday night during the school year from 6 - 7 pm. We do mission projects, music, and learn about the Bible. It's a great way for kids to have fun, learn about God, and to serve Him! We also offer "M&M Minis," a class for children ages 2 - 5 in the nursery, where we learn short Bible lessons and do lots of fun things.

How our church can help with VBS:

Volunteer to be on the prayer team.

Email Kristen if you are interested. Volunteers pray for VBS weekly in the time leading up to VBS, and daily during the week of VBS.

The prayer team also prayer walks the grounds the night before VBS begins.

Volunteer to be a crew leader or crew marshal. We need adults to lead small groups (2-6) of children from station to station. VBS cannot happen without 8 adult crew leaders and 8 adult crew marshals.

Volunteer to sign up to provide food for snacks. Look for the snack sign up coming in June and sign up to provide snack supplies. Bring supplies the week before VBS.

Trunk or Treat

Halloween is a time for fun at SUMC with our Trunk or Treat. Church members arrive in the church parking lot, decorate their car trunks, and hand candy out to all children in attendance. Food, games, spook houses, hay rides, and many other activities can be found at this free family friendly event that is open to the community.

Easter Egg Hunt

SUMC hosts a community wide Easter Egg Hunt each year on the week before Easter. Hunts are divided by age, and each hunt as a few “grand” prizes!

There are games, food, a photo booth with the Easter Bunny, and fun for the whole family. The event is free and open to the public. Please bring a canned good or non-perishable item to donate to the Salado Food Bank.

Ministry Safe

SUMC adopted a Safe Sanctuaries Policy in 2011, and transitioned to a Ministry Safe policy in 2015. The purpose of this policy is to make our church a safe place for children to be, and for members and visitors to feel that children are safe when they are left in their Sunday School classes, nurseries, or at other events.

This policy serves to protect and inform volunteers who work with Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults.

This policy serves as a minimum standard to be upheld by staff and volunteers for all ministries and activities at SUMC. The Central Texas Conference requires that we provide adequate adult supervision at District and Conference Events and Ministries attended by Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults.

The steps to complete the training program are:
