Special Events

Trunk or Treat

Halloween is a time for fun at SUMC with our Trunk or Treat. Church members arrive in the church parking lot, decorate their car trunks, and hand candy out to all children in attendance. Food, games, spook houses, hay rides, and many other activities can be found at this family friendly event which is usually held the week before Halloween.

Children's Musical

Each year, children grades 1-6 have the opportunity to take part in our annual Children’s Christmas musical. Rehearsals start in September and result in two December performances. More information on the Christmas Musical will become available in August.

Easter Egg Hunt

SUMC hosts a community wide Easter Egg Hunt each year on the week before Easter. Hunts are divided by age, and each hunt as a few “grand” prizes! There are games, food, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and fun for the whole family. The event is free and open to the public.  Please bring a canned good or non-perishable item to donate to the Salado Food Bank.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School is a yearly event for ages 4 through the completion of 5th grade, held each summer in July. This week long experience teaches Bible stories and concepts though crafts and hands on experiments, games, mission projects, Bible stories, and worship times. Registration opens in May.

Ministry Safe

SUMC adopted a Safe Sanctuaries Policy in 2011, and transitioned to a Ministry Safe policy in 2015. The purpose of this policy is to make our church a safe place for children to be, and for members and visitors to feel that children are safe when they are left in their Sunday School classes, nurseries, or at other events.

This policy serves to protect and inform volunteers who work with Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults.

This policy serves as a minimum standard to be upheld by staff and volunteers for all ministries and activities at SUMC. The Central Texas Conference requires that we provide adequate adult supervision at District and Conference Events and Ministries attended by Children, Youth, and Vulnerable Adults.

The steps to complete the training program are:
